This afternoon, the third and final week of the course on Human Rights Institute DD.HH. Catalonia (IHRC), we enjoyed a "face to face" between Edward Martin, Deputy Clerk of the Human Rights Office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation and Iziar Ruiz-Gimenez-president of the English section of Amnesty International. The debate has focused on human rights in Spain, from the universal periodic review.
Taking the opportunity I made a question to the President of Amnesty International in Spain Malgrat that m'imaginava the resposta ja.
The question has estat:
"There has been much talk about the right to life, specifically on torture. My question is about this right but in another area. It's for you, Iziar." Currently, Amnesty International defends abortion as a right of women-as-government does, or defending the human right to life of those not yet born, for without this right other would be meaningless. Thank you. " I
the resposta has estat, aproximadament:
"Amnesty International is based on international standards of sexual and reproductive rights of women. No woman should die the practice of abortion underground. Many women Muera every day in many places in the world by these abortos clandestinos, Fruto violations.
Conclusion: According
President, Amnesty International has no opinion or opinion on this, just based on what called internationally. And the current international trend, as mentioned, is that abortion is a sexual and reproductive rights of women. Therefore, AI considers abortion as a woman's right?
In 2007 , AI made the following statements:
"Amnesty International's policy on sexual rights and the reproductivos not promueve abortion as a universal right, and the organization keeps silence about the goodness or maldad of abortion. "
This confirms the lack of criteria. But nevertheless, in recent years, there is a movement within AI to become partnership a pro-abortion platform.
